URBAN HEALTH IMPLICATIONS OF FOOD VENDORING

ABSTRACT

This study examines urban health implications of food vendoring. the study was guided by the following objectives;

  1. 1.   To examine the urban health implication of food vendoring
  2. 2.   To identify the causal factor of the urban health implication of food vendoring
  3. 3.   To identify the challenge faced as a result of the health implication of food vendoring in the urban area  

The study employed descriptive and explanatory design, questionnaires in addition to library research were applied in order to collect data. Primary and secondary data sources were used and data was analyzed using statistical package which was presented in frequency tables and percentage. The respondents under the study were 30 employees of [case study]. The study findings revealed that there is a significant impact [urban health implication] has on [food vendoring]. Linear regression significant at 0.05 level (2-tailed), 0.00 indicates the significance of interaction between two variables an indication that the significant is under the range of 0.0 and 0.05.

Using the above findings, it implied that there is a strong relationship between [urban health implications] and [food vendoring]. Key recommendations from the study are;

  1. 1.   Medical checkup allowance should be included in the salary summary of kitchen workers and followed up for implementation
  2. 2.   Cleaning of cooking tools and surrounding should be a top priority of food vending organizations.
  3. 3.   Consumers should be observant of the serenity, healthiness and cleanliness of the food vending establishment before patronizing.
  4. 4.   Disinfection and Sterilization of both internal and external parts of the food vending establishment should be executed as regular as possible for the health benefits of the customers.
  5. 5.   Government should create agencies to supervise the germ-freeness, cleanliness and Healthiness of food vending companies atleast weekly to avoid health implications from the people.
