ABSTRACT
This study assesses the challenges of health information management practices. Faced with the problem of Incomplete data due to Electronic Health Record system changes, the study was guided by the following objectives; to identify health information management practices in General Hospital Ilorin Kwara State, to examine the challenges of health information management practices in General Hospital Ilorin Kwara State and, to identify the factors that causes the challenges of health information management practices in General Hospital Ilorin Kwara State.
The study employed descriptive and explanatory design, questionnaires in addition to library research were applied in order to collect data. Primary and secondary data sources were used and data was analyzed using statistical package which was presented in frequency tables and percentage. The respondents under the study were 30 employees of General Hospital Ilorin Kwara State. The study findings revealed that there is a significant impact [The challenges] has on [Health information management practices]. Linear regression significant at 0.05 level (2-tailed), 0.00 indicates the significance of interaction between two variables an indication that the significant is under the range of 0.0 and 0.05.
Using the above findings, it implied that there is a strong relationship between [the challenges] and [Health information management practices]. Key recommendations from the study are; In-service professional training should be organized to to clear of unprofessionalism, Admission into School to study such discipline should be properly regulated, Data Elicited from the patient should be carefully studied for proper medical care to be given, Electronic Health Recording system change should be properly done to avoid loss of patients’ data, Monitoring and supervising team should be set up to ensure the implementation of health information management practices.
