ABSTRACT
This study examines the Impact of classroom management on pupils Academic performance. Faced with the problem of Poor sitting arrangement, Over-crowded class, Time constraint, Personality clashes, Non-conducive teaching and learning environment are the challenges in classroom management, the study was guided by the following objectives; identification of Classroom management strategies adopted by teachers, examination of challenges in classroom management, examination of the relationship between classroom management and Pupils academic performance.
The study employed descriptive and explanatory design, questionnaires in addition to library research were applied in order to collect data. Primary and secondary data sources were used and data was analyzed using statistical package which was presented in frequency tables and percentage. The respondents under the study were 30 employees of selected primary school in Ekiti State. The study findings revealed that there is a significant impact that classroom management has on Academic performance. Linear regression significant at 0.05 level (2-tailed), 0.00 indicates the significance of interaction between two variables an indication that the significant is under the range of 0.0 and 0.05.
Using the above findings, it implied that there is a strong relationship between classroom management and Academic performance. Key recommendations from the study are; conducive space for teaching and learning should be provided by building spacious classroom, class overcrowding should be avoided by assigning an appropriate number of pupils per class, Proper classroom seats that are suitable for teaching and learning environment should be provided, Emotional Management Knowledge should be passed on the pupils for resolutions of conflicts, Proper time management in favour of the pupils should be encouraged.
