INTRODUCTION
BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
A hotel is an institution which offers lodging houses, rooms, suits and facilities for payment on a short-term basis. They range from simple small rooms to medium and executive air-conditioned suits. Hotels with low prices will offer only the most basic guest services and facilities. While hotels with higher-prices offer additional guest facilities such as a swimming pool, business centre (with computers, printers, and other office equipment), childcare, conference and event facilities, tennis or basketball courts, gymnasium, restaurants, day spa, and social function services. Hotels also offer food and drink services. Lundberg, Donald E. (1994).The hotels in calabar are located in calabar municipality and and calabar south. Empirical studies of the spatial distribution and categorization of hotels in Calabar p shows that 78.44% of one star hotels dominated Calabar south local government area irrespective of the wards compared to 28.57 hotels found in Calabar municipality. The location analysis shows that the number of low profiled hotel were found in calabar south due to lack of basic amenities such as good water supply, electricity, poor drainage and inadequate security as affirmed in the empirical work of (Eja, 2011). However an average of 63.41% of the hotels were concentrated in Calabar municipality as against 36.58% in Calabar south. Nevertheless, calabar municipality was dominated with five star hotels.The study seeks to appraise locational analysis of hotels in calabar municipal local government of cross river state.
1.2 STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
The location of hotels in calabar is not evenly spread. There are over concentration of hotels in some areas than others leading to the development of one area against another. This is as a result of lack of basic amenities such as good water supply, good road, constant electricity, etc.
Low profiled hotels are concentrated in calabar south while the high profiled hotels are located in calabar municipal. The uneven spread of hotels hinders business activities in certain areas and the influx of tourist. Hence the problem of the study to appraise locational analysis of hotels in calabar municipal local government of cross river state.
1.3 OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY
The Main Objective of the study is to appraise locational analysis of hotels in calabar municipal local government of cross river state; The specific objectives include

The study proffers the locational analysis of hotels in calabar municipal local government of cross river state;. It provides relevant data for the effective formulation and implementation of policies to enhance the realization of envisaged objective.
