INTRODUCTION
1.1 BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
The Nigerian Network News broadcasting is a channel of broadcasting various news events and other information via television radio, or internet in the field of broadcast journalism. The news content read in network news is usually produced locally in a radio studio or television studio newsroom or by a broadcast network which covers news from sports , weather forecasts, traffic reports, commentary, and other information relevant to the audience. Television news disseminates current events through the television. A "news bulletin" or a "newscast" is a television program which provides updates on international, national, regional, and local news events and can last from few seconds to hours. Charles L. Ponce de Leon, (2015). There are numerous providers of broadcast news NTA Network News, content such as BBC News, NBC News, CNN; Fox News Channel etc.The study seeks to proffer an assessment of the attitude of uniuyo lecturers towards network news.
1.2 STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
Attitude is the predisposition or tendency of an individual to respond positively or negatively towards a thing such as certain idea, object, person, or situation. Attitude affects an individual’s decision of the choice of action, and also influence the persons responses to challenges, Incentives and rewards. The critical function of attitudes is to enable the individual to adjust which is the adjustment function of attitude; others are the ego defensive function, the value expressive function , and the knowledge function. It is apparent that these functions influences the individual protects and enhance the image they hold in esteem of themselves. Consequently attitude determines, shape and reinforce the positive disposition one has toward a thing and the negative disposition one has toward a thing. University lecturers are prominently regarded as the intellectual class of people. They have the capacity to reason effectively about disseminated information and critically evaluate their effectiveness or ineffectiveness. Network news is one of such program which disseminates information of current events in the nation. In view of the current event in the country especially as regards the relationship between the university lecturers and the government, it is needful to determine attitude of university lecturer towards Information and event disseminated through the network news. Consequently the problem confronting the study is an assessment of the attitude of uniuyo lecturers towards network news.
1.3 OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY
The Main Objective of the study is an assessment of the attitude of uniuyo lecturers towards network news; The specific objectives include
