Family Life Education constitute an aspect of education which empowers and equips the family with knowledge so as to enhance their well-being and strengthen interpersonal relationships through an educational, preventive, and strengths-based approach. These skills and knowledge include strong communication skills, knowledge of typical human development, good decision-making skills, positive self-esteem and healthy interpersonal relationships. The essence being to enhance family development and positive self- esteem.
Family Life Education is all effort fostered towards strengthening the individual and family life through a family perspective. This is to enrich and improve the quality of individual and family life such as pre-marriage and marriage enrichment instructions and programs, Parenting classes, and family financial planning courses The issue of Family Life Education, however has existed in the past in the form of traditional methods of marriage and child-rearing where knowledge, instructions and counsel was transferred from one generation to another as well as by written information using religious scripture ancient writings, and mythology. The belief about health and illness varies with the culture, religion and spiritual perceptions of the people. The roles and responsibility of men and women varies among cultures. The influence of age and gender is also paramount to the development of family education.
