ABSTRACT
The study investigates the structure of income inequality and poverty in rural Nigeria, a case study of Yala Local Government Area of Cross River State. Two hypothesis were formulated to guide the study literature related to the variables were reviewed in the study, sample of three hundred and forty-five (345) respondents were drawn from the study area for data collection, from a population of 12,500, the main instrument for data collection was the structure of income inequality and poverty in rural Nigeria A case study of Yala Local Government Area questionnaire, the data collected were analyzed using statistics and analysis of variance (ANOVA). The result of the hypothesis indicate the income distribution pattern, income inequality significantly affect the living standard of the people in Yala Local Government Area of Cross River State. Base on the result of the finding it was recommended, that for the issue of poverty to reduce income distribution pattern should maintain the same flow between the poor and the rich home, conclusion and suggestion were made.
