Concept of Information Technology
Information technology, as defined by the Information Technology Association of America (ITAA) is “the study, design, development, implementation, support or management of computer-based information systems, particularly software application and computer hardware. Information Technology deals with the use of electronic computer and computer software to convert, store, protect, process, transmit and securely retrieve information.
According to King (2005), information technology refers to the management and use of information using computer-based tools, it includes acquiring, processing, storing and distribution of information. Most commonly used it is a term used refer to business applications of computer technology, rather than scientific application. The term is used broadly in business to refer to anything that ties to the use of computers.
Information technology involves the development, maintenance and use of computer system, software, hardware and networks for the processing and distribution of data. Information technology is the development; implementation and maintenance of computer hardware and software system organize and communicate electronically (King, 2005).
